3艺术 Awards Three Academy 校友

今年, three extraordinary Academy alumni earned a “Make A Wave” award from 3艺术, a nonprofit organization that supports Chicago’s women artists, 彩色艺术家, and Deaf and disabled artists who work in the performing, 教学, 以及视觉艺术. 罗宾 DaSilva (音乐, ‘86), 痰迹 Harper (跳舞, ‘95), and Kara Roseborough (跳舞, ‘14) and 120 other Chicagoland artists are receiving an unrestricted $4,000 grant on November 1. 

Since graduating from The Academy, 罗宾, 痰迹, and Kara have made waves of their own in the Chicago art world. 罗宾, a singer-songwriter, 女演员, 教育家, and advocate has spent over 20 years in the Chicago theatre scene, earning several awards for her performances, including the Jeff Award and Black 剧院 Alliance Award. 

痰迹, an Artistic Director and Choreographer, spent a few years touring the world with some of Hip Hop and R&B的大牌. After returning home, she transitioned to education as an Artistic Director where she piloted dance programs for Chicago Public School teens aged 14-18. 

最后, Kara is currently based in Evanston where she is the Artistic Director of the Evanston 跳舞 Ensemble 2. Her other performance credits include work with the Civic Ballet, Charleston City Ballet, South Chicago 跳舞 剧院, UpEnded Productions, 突触艺术, Pittsburgh Public 剧院, and the World 跳舞 Alliance.

In 2021, 3艺术 is awarding nearly $1 Million in grants, making it their biggest year yet. To honor the award winners, 3艺术 will be hosting a free virtual event on November 1. (Registration is required at 3arts.org/event.)
